:: THE ARTS

We offer students the tools, opportunities, and encouragement to express their creativity. The arts are integral to education at Holden. Self exploration, self expression, cooperation and collaboration with others are encouraged in all of the classes. Staff incorporates the arts into the academic classes, and students can also choose from a variety of classes such as painting, photography, collage, creative writing, drawing, guitar, music and dance.

THE DRAMA PROGRAM

For many students the drama program is transformative. Our innovative drama program performs nontraditional and challenging material. Drama gives students the experience and opportunity to complete a project that takes skill, collaboration and dedication. Most drama students have never been involved in theatre before attending Holden.

THE COMMUNITY

Students take responsibility for their education both personally and collectively. Each student is responsible for exploring their desires, choosing classes they need and want, developing independent projects and giving teachers feedback about what is and isn't working about the class, assignments and teaching style. Students have a number of ways to create changes in the school including semesterly evaluations of staff, talking with student council, petitioning the staff directly or simply talking to any director.
